Here are some fascinating facts about the real creature:👑 Bigger Than T. RexThe Spinosaurus was the largest carnivorous dinosaur known to science. Reaching lengths of up to 50 feet (15.2 meters) and weighing around 7.5 tons, it was several meters longer than a Tyrannosaurus rex.🌊 The Only Known Water-Dwelling DinosaurIt is the only dinosaur discovered that spent most of its life living and hunting in the water. Unlike land-bound theropods, it had highly dense bones—similar to modern manatees—which acted as natural weights to help it dive and stay submerged while hunting.🐊 Built Like a CrocodileIts long, narrow skull, paddle-like webbed feet, and straight, cone-shaped teeth were perfectly adapted for grabbing slippery prey like prehistoric fish. Some of the fish it hunted in the ancient river systems of North America were the size of cars!⛵ A Mysterious Giant SailThe massive sail along its spine featured bones the size of surfboards, reaching up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall. While its exact purpose is still debated by paleontologists, theories suggest it was used to regulate body temperature, intimidate rivals, attract mates, or even act as a rudder while swimming.💣 A Lost HistoryThe very first Spinosaurus skeleton was discovered in Egypt in 1912 by German paleontologist Ernst Stromer. Tragically, those original holotype fossils were completely destroyed during World War II when an Allied bombing raid hit the Munich museum housing them. Scientists had to rely on Stromer's detailed notes and drawings for decades until new bones were unearthed in the 21st century.
